Fom
www.fom.com.br

Fom produces cushions, pillows and bean bags focused on ergonomy, design and comfort.

Back in 2004 I produced the first layout in my former agency for their first 5 or 6 products. From then on the company grew and so did its product line.

We modified some of its structure sometime in 2005 so that the website could have a management system that included products and an online quote system. However, the structure without a vertical scrolling, presenting the products in small drawings in a Flash menu scrolling horizontally became a problem to show over 10 product lines and almost 200 different products.

The products needed to "breathe" and room to be seen. The stores that buy large quantities use the website to choose the products they want. It was necessary to create a simple visual organization that gave clear and objective information about products: function, suggestion of use, colors, photos and price.

The ideia for the new layout, launched in December 2007, had the main goal of being clear and direct with the visitor, providing essential information for them to understand what is Fom and their products.

Everything was made thinking of W3C standards and the user experience. All pages were made in CSS for maximum efficiency in loading the website and to keep the html code clean and well organized for search engines. The password protected CMS area, produced in partnership with the guys from Neolab, is very user-friendly, easy to use, and controls most of the website content.

And Fom still has an online quote service, not yet made with online payment.

There are plenty of work to be done with the website, suggestions and ideas. But, as Chinese say, every long journey begins with the first step. And I think we took a pretty good one.
